Dayton Medical Students for India COVID Relief

India is currently experiencing a devastating wave of COVID-19 cases spreading through the country and is in dire need of support from around the world. According to Project Hope, “India’s increasing death toll is expected to continue into May, due in part to a critical shortage of oxygen, equipment, and PPE that threatens to further increase the outbreak. Daily new cases are expected to reach 500,000 into May.” Hospitals and ICUs are operating at or over capacity across the country and positivity rates in cities like New Delhi are as high as 30%. Several family members of medical students have passed from COVID or are unable to receive proper care due to limited resources and supplies. 

We are reaching out to you to ask for your support for Project HOPE’s efforts to coordinate with local partners and government officials to locally procure PPE and medical equipment such as medicines, beds, ventilators, and oxygen, to help India’s health care workers respond to the dramatic spread of the disease. Our GoFundMe page is setup to directly donate funds to the organization without us collecting the money as a middle-man. As global citizens, we urge you to please support India and the families of several students in a time of urgent need.
