DBA East Village Staff Fund
Donation protected
For over 25 years d.b.a East Village has survived on first avenue with a mandate to sell good stuff, no matter the rent, the times, or the change in the community around us. It would have been easier for dba's beloved founders to have shoved another bud/miller/coors dispensary in the east village to make it easy on themselves.
And while countless bars with less gumption and conviction have failed around us, we've survived. Through tragedy near to us, and to the wider city we call home. Through weather disasters, 9/11, the loss of our founders - through all manner of loss and bullshit and challenges, we've been here all along doing our best to be a place for our community to come together and share their best times. And far more importantly - our worst times.
Today we find ourselves unable to even do that. We know full well that we aren't the only service industry operation that has been decimated by this emergency, and won't pretend otherwise.
We hope ALL of our locals and neighborhood folks who still have income rolling in can find time to support any business, ours or otherwise, that have been a part of your special moments over the years.
To that end, we hope that if you have the ability - you will consider us as well a place worth some socially-distanced love. Next time you open a bottle under quarantine or crack a day-beer while working from home, consider throwing a few dollars towards our bartenders and barbacks here. All proceeds will be shared amongst the staff to help support this group while they face an uncertain and troubling new future, with no end-date in sight.
Anything at all helps. And every last penny is a penny we will be grateful beyond words for.
We will not be a casualty of this disaster. We will be back. What we are trying to do is ensure that our staff, with its historically low turnover can still afford to stay in their homes so that when we crack those doors open again it will be the faces you see below ready to welcome you back home.
We love you all. And we will see you soon.
