Helping Matthew heal

Hello everyone,

My name is Katie Payne, and I have set up this page in hopes of raising money for my big brother.

On September 28th, 2023 I got a phone call from my brother that I had been dreading for a few weeks. If you've ever been on the other end of the phone when someone you love says the words "I have cancer" then you know it is the worst possible feeling in the world. At 36 years old he was officially diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer that had spread to his liver. A punch in the gut, a kick to the teeth, a call that turned our world upside down.

While others would have been depressed, sad, angry (I know I was) at the timing, my inspiring big brother was approaching the journey ahead with gratitude. He was grateful that his fiance (now wife ) had made him make a Dr appointment, grateful it was caught before it spread further, grateful he would receive treatment locally and grateful to be in a place in his life where he had a huge support system and the distraction of a new life to add to his family. We have been in awe of him since day one. We all nervously watched as he began his treatment journey, and were happy to see that the tumors were shrinking. It also helped that Matthew's attitude and unwillingness to let this sickness win,made it seem like everything was normal.

After enduring 15 chemotherapy sessions, unfortunately, there has been a regression in his progress and one of the tumors has grown. Frustrated but still positive, my brother has shifted his focus to other kinds of treatment. Throughtout his cancer journey, Matthew has been reading and researching all types of healing processes and non toxic treatments to help make treatment days better and to speed his recovery. Through his research he found a holistic healing center in Florida and after an inital phone call consultation with the Drs and staff at this clinic, he has decided to travel there to recieve treatment. Run by a expert medical team, he will start an extensive treatment plan that will run Monday to Friday for 8 weeks.

Unfortunately this type of therapy is not covered under insurance and will cost around $5000 American a week. He will also have to travel and stay in Florida for approximately 2 months which will be costly. He and his family are willing to pay the price in order to get his life back from this horrible disease.

He really didn't want anyone to fundraise for him but with the cost of this venture, and the community support he has I thought it would be crazy not to try. Any donation is appreciated because Megan, Emily, Carter, Braiya and baby Shaye deserve as many health filled years with my brother as my family were blessed with and more ❤️
