Be the Change You Want to See

On October 28, 2019, Ronald L. Jones was awarded a 6 month artist residency by the Zocalo Artist-in-Residency program. This included fully funded housing ($1050 per month) as well a monthly stipend of $250. Sadly, this residency was rescinded in December of 2019 due to a failed criminal background check that occurred while he was filling out his residency paperwork. We feel that Zocalo AiR massively erred in not completing these checks much sooner and making Ronald experience such lows after he had been celebrated for his artistic accomplishments. We also feel that this is another example of a broken criminal justice system that continues to punish those that have paid their debt to society. The artist life is not an easy life and coupled with Ronald's other extenuating life circumstances, we ask that you help in making things right by being the change we want to see in this world. We have set our goal at $7,800. This includes the 6 month rent total ($6,300) and the 6 month stipend total ($1,500). We thank all of you for your help!
