DCU 24 hour sail in aid of Hannah Leonard
Donation protected
DCU SurfNSail Club is proud to run this fundraiser in support of Hannah Leonard, a DCU alumna and former member of our club.
On October 6th, 2024, while in Sicily, Hannah was struck by a car during a training run for the Dublin Marathon. She sustained severe brain injuries, and the initial prognosis was severe. But Hannah is a fighter, and her resilience has inspired everyone around her.
Following life-saving surgery in Sicily, she underwent numerous additional procedures. In January 2025, Hannah was flown back to Ireland via air ambulance and admitted to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, where her recovery journey continues.
Since her return, Hannah has shown encouraging progress. She has started physical therapy and can now sit up in a specialized chair, showing increased responsiveness. Her family remains steadfastly hopeful, supporting her every step of the way.
Hannah’s strength and determination are a testament to her incredible spirit. To ease the financial burden of medical expenses and travel costs, DCU SurfNSail Club has launched this fundraiser.
To show our support for Hannah, DCU sailors will take to the water for a 24-hour sailathon. From 12 PM on April 18th to 12 PM on April 19th, at the National Yacht Club, we will sail non-stop.
Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference in Hannah's ongoing recovery. Thank you for your support and generosity!
