Help Ariah and her family
Donation protected
Ariah is a bright, sassy and beautiful little girl. Early this year (2022) she was playing at home with her older brother like any other day. What her mum (Leisiana) thought was a little bump on her head, turned out to expose an underlying condition that would change their lives forever.
After comforting Ariah from what most parents would think was a little bump, her mummy noticed some slight changes in her behaviour. This happened within minutes of the initial bump. Ariah had slurred speech and her eyes were “wobbly.”
Her mum decided to take her to the hospital where she started having uncontrollable seizures. The doctors could not get the seizures under control. Ariah was rushed to Perth Children’s Hospital where she was placed in an induced coma. For 2 weeks doctors gave her every test imaginable but still no answers. Finally her DNA was sent away for genetic testing and it was discovered that Ariah had a very rare genetic disease. So rare in fact that it has no proper name. It goes by the name of the gene defect which is DNM1L.
After months in the hospital and a care plan in place, Ariah was able to go home.
To prepare her for her return home, her mummy had to return to work leaving Ariah in the care of the wonderful hospital staff and some amazing extended family.
Ariah was very blessed to receive some equipment that would make life for her easier and safer. However, due to their visa statuses, Ariah and her family (Mum and brother) do not receive NDIS funding or any other type of funding. As a single mother, Leisiana has been sacrificing her time with Ariah, to work and continue to provide for her and her brother. As anybody can imagine, leaving kids to work can be difficult enough, but to leave a little girl in Ariahs condition is an every day struggle and heartache.
So… we are asking for donations to make Ariah and her mummy and her brothers lives just that little bit more easier.
She has continuing medical costs. She needs a suitable vehicle to get her and her wheelchair every where she needs to go. She needs other important medical equipment that will give her a better quality of life and she needs her mummy home with her as much as she can!
So any kind donations would be firstly put towards the medical equipment and/or suitable vehicle. Any remaining funds will be kept for her ongoing medical costs, as well as wage subsidy for when her mummy needs to take a day or 2 or 3 or 4… off of work to be with her.
We appreciate your time in reading this and we welcome any donations, kind words, prayers and support.
