Emberlyn Grace will be undergoing a critical spinal surgery at the Masonic Children’s Hospital in MN The surgery has only been done twice, which will make Emmy the 3rd person to receive the surgery.
Dr. Polly at Shriner's Hospital Twin Cities is the only doctor that has completed this type of spinal surgery and it hasn't been done since 2013. The surgical team is comprised of several doctors and the surgery is expected to last 6-8 hours. After the operation, Emberlyn will be in the ICU for 3-5 days before moving to general care for another 5-7 days. She will have a 6-8 week recovery time. Emberlyn's mom, Joanie, will need to take a leave-of-absence from work to care for her. Unfortunately, it will be without pay. proceeds will go to the Hemmer-Moore family to assist with medical bills and living expenses while Joanie is off work caring for Emberlyn during her recovery.
There is a Ice Cream Social Benefit scheduled for Hemmer-Moore family on 05/03/2020 at 1:00pm-5:00pm at the Sesostris Shrine; 1050 Saltillo Road, Roca, NE.
