CES Freedom Trip 2019

Donation protected
The allied invasion of Normandy, France occurred on Tuesday, June 6, 1944. Operation Neptune, often referred to as D-Day, was the most massive seaborne invasion in history. The operation marked the beginning of the liberation of German-occupied France, and later Europe, from Nazi control and laid the foundations of the Allied victory on the Western Front.

June 6, 2019, is the 75th anniversary of the D-Day invasion and the Colorado Emerald Society (CES) Pipes and Drums will be there to take part in the many the tributes, memorials, and ceremonial parades.

The CES is the only pipe band in Colorado made up entirely of police officers and firefighters.

It is our mission to pay tribute to our fallen and we can think of no better way to honor the servicemen and woman who have kept us free than by remembering their courage and sacrifice by playing on those hallowed beaches.

We will march and play at:

-The official D Day Ceremony at the Brittany American Cemetery & Memorial
-The official Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Normandy American Cemetery & Memorial
-The D Day Parade in Sainte-Mère-Eglise
-Several locations, battle sites, and cemeteries in and around Belgium

We are privileged to have this opportunity to represent our State and honor those who fought and those who died. However, we also need your help! As you can imagine, the cost of getting a bagpipe band to Europe and traveling the countryside is expensive. Please consider donating to help us in defraying some of the costs of the band’s Freedom-2019 Trip here.
