D-Day Veteran aircraft engine overhaul
Donation protected
"Whiskey 7" our beloved flagship C-47 Skytrain who lead the 2nd wave into Normandy on June 6th, 1944 has suffered a second engine failure in less than one years time. We are a non-profit warplane museum located in Geneseo NY. We are dedicated to preservation of WWII, Korean War and Vietnam era military aircraft, equipment, and the stories of those men and women who served our country at home and abroad. "Whiskey 7's engine overhaul will cost roughly $75,000 dollars. That will cover the cost of the engine overhaul, the replacement of hoses and the cleaning of the oiling system that is contaminated with metal fragments. There is no cost for labor to remove and re-install the engine thanks to our dedicated group of volunteers. We are hoping to get the engine out to the overhaul shop as soon as possible. Their turn around to overhaul the engine is 120 days, which would bring us into end of April, beginning of May. That time period is usually the start of the season for us. We are hoping to have Whiskey 7 back in the air by then. She is our main attraction, and many people enjoy taking ride flights around scenic Livingston county, and Letchworth State Park. Even if you can't donate we would appreciate a share of the fundraiser. We at the National Warplane Museum appreciate any help that is offered so we can get Whiskey 7 back in the air!
