SAVING JAY

Donation protected
Hi everyone, I’m Jays mum ( Toni Ocallaghan ) &
As most of yous know, but to some this may be new too.
Our son Jay Hellis was diagnosed with a grade 4 Glioblastoma brain tumour back in September 2021 at the young age of just 19 years old.
He underwent emergency surgery to remove it but sadly this wasn’t enough.

This led to him having to have radiotherapy,
& 19 months of chemotherapy to which this took a massive toll on not only his body but also on Jay as a person.

Those who have held their child’s hand through this treatment , or have watched a loved one going through this will deeply understand the heartbreak, pain & suffering cancer causes.

Jays odds of beating this was not on his side, we was told he only had 3% chance of surviving & our hearts was broken.

Nevertheless he fought with all he had and finally in march 2023 he was able to stop chemotherapy and had beat the odds. The tumour was gone and he could resume normal life with no more treatment.
It was the news we had all hoped & been praying so hard for.

Jay continued to be closely monitored at UCLH with regular Observations and MRI scans, but on the 17th June this year at the age of just 21, we was given the devastating results that the tumour is back & is growing rapidly.

Jay’s tumour is a GBM and is known to be the deadliest tumour of them all as it grows what they call tentacles & merges its self into the Brain & can no longer be operated on.
At that point, that is when our everlasting pain could never be healed.

Jay has just completed another round of radiotherapy to which his body hasn’t responded to, so they have placed Jay back onto chemotherapy, two different types this time, Lomustine & Temozolomide.
Jay is suffering immense side effects to this treatment, he it’s trying his hardest everyday to fight.

With heavy hearts we have researched hours, days & months as a family to have finally found an advanced treatment in Germany it’s the immunotherapy vaccines that we believe could save Jays life.

Immunotherapy vaccine is tailored made vaccine for each patient.
How works is they combine an oncolytic virus and Jay’s tumour material with dendritic cells to produce the personalized vaccine.
The vaccine would then activate Jay’s immune system to help fight the tumour & get the cells back to good health & kill the cancerous ones.
Studies have shown that patients have a very good response to this treatment.
We strongly believe that this immunotherapy vaccine is the best treatment there is for Jay to stand any fighting chance of surviving this devastating illness.
We need to get him over to Germany as soon as possible to start the treatment.

Jay has got everything to live for.
He has just become a Dad with his partner having just had a beautiful baby girl in July.
His our Son, a Brother, a Grandson, Nephew, Cousin and a Best friend who is deeply loved by all.
As his parents if we had one wish in this world it would be to take this illness instead of him.

Family, friends, neighbours, work colleagues.
Everyone that knows us as a family have asked how they could help.
I can not put into words how much of a massive comfort this has been to us in our darkest hours knowing Jay is not standing alone.

We would now like to reach out & ask for you all to stand shoulder to shoulder with Jay and support him during this unimaginable time of his young life.
Could I please ask that you support us with as little or as much as you can & share near & far in order to help save
our Jay x

This page will be updated as we go along with updated”/ and treatment costs but we have been told we could be looking at upwards of £200,000 all money will go towards treatment and anything that is over will be donated.
