Hi friends:
With the help of a few close friends, my dad and I have already sourced and funded 2 second-hand emergency vehicles filled with medical supplies. The first one is on the way and will arrive in Donetsk in early December. The second one is being shipped to Germany now, from where my dad will drive to the Ukrainian border in mid-December.
With your help, we are looking to raise $12k to fund the purchase of another emergency vehicle.
The emergency vehicle will be procured by United Help Ukraine and shipped from Baltimore, MD, to Hamburg, Germany. From there, it will be driven by volunteers to Kherson, Ukraine.
Why are we focusing on Kherson? On the west bank of the Dnipro river (right next to my hometown), the recently liberated city of Kherson is in critical need of vehicles and medical supplies. The town was utterly depleted after the Russian occupation.
What is my connection to Ukraine? I'm a proud Ukrainian who moved to the United States at 13. I have spent significant time in Ukraine and have family and friends there. Speaking with relatives and friends in Ukraine, my dad and I found one of the most requested items to be ambulances and emergency vehicles, with many destroyed in the conflict.
About United Help Ukraine: it is a nonprofit 501c3 charitable organization receiving and distributing medical supplies to the people of Ukraine affected by Russia's invasion. My dad and I have been lucky to meet the amazing president of United Help Ukraine, Maryna Baydyuk, who also works with my dad at Georgetown University. The team behind this small but mighty nonprofit has been working tireless hours and making a massive difference in the lives of many Ukrainians.
A deep note of gratitude: Thank you for your support and for keeping Ukraine in your heart. At the end of the day, we are all connected as humans, and alleviating the pain of others is a privilege.
With much love and gratitude!
Alina
p.s. I plan to match all donations for up to $2.5K and then get my company to match that.
