Help Sanchez-Cron Family Rebuild Home after Fire

At 3am on January 29th, the Sanchez-Cron family woke up to a devastating fire that ultimately destroyed Maria’s beautiful home on North Street and all their belongings. There are no words to describe the heartache and overwhelming sense of loss that comes with this tragedy.

Crystal, Maria, Heather Flor, and their family are pillars in the Latinx community and beyond. As most of you know, they started the Food Brigade out of Maria’s kitchen and garage on North Street at the start of the pandemic, bringing food and hope to hundreds of families across Southern Maine. At a time when systems of support were shutting down in the face of Covid, the family said, “We’re here for you. We’ll get through this together.” Over the last two years, Crystal has been the heartbeat of a massive mutual aid network that has delivered millions of pounds of food, clothing, cleaning supplies, and healing and wellness kits to marginalized communities most impacted by Covid and systemic oppression.

Now, it’s our turn to step up and support this amazing family. Please give what you are able and share widely with folks. Then give again if you can. This money will go directly to the family and will be used to pay medical bills caused by the fire, to secure long-term housing, to buy new computers and furniture, and to begin the process of rebuilding their home.
