Giving Brady a Fighting Chance
Donation protected
Over the past several weeks, our beloved dog, Brady, developed a nasty nasal discharge, and we grew concerned that he had a fungal infection in his nose. When we took him to a specialist to evaluate and treat the rhinitis, we learned that Brady has a large mass in his spleen.
Unfortunately, it is impossible to determine whether or not this mass is malignant without removing the spleen. Even if the mass is benign, it still poses a serious threat, as splenic masses easily rupture and can result in fatal abdominal bleeding. Without a splenectomy, Brady likely will not survive longer than a year.
The complicating factor is the fungal rhinitis, which would need to be treated immediately if we were to remove his spleen. Fungal rhinitis is a serious condition which can lead to brain damage and death, and removal of the spleen compromises his immune system and his ability to fight the infection. However, with antifungal treatment, Brady’s chances for recovery are very good.
As a teacher and a veterinary resident, not to mention just weeks after our wedding, it’s easy to say that funds are tight. To give Brady a fighting chance of survival, we are humbly asking for your financial support, as well as your thoughts and prayers to help us get through this difficult time and to provide Brady the care he desperately needs to stay with us.
Thank you for reading and keeping our family in your thoughts.
