Norman De Castro Memorial Fund
Donation protected
Hi.
My little brother and best friend Norman ended his life by jumping off the cruise ship where he was working at 1:30am on Monday, April 24, 2017. He would have celebrated his milestone 40th birthday in September.
He had been struggling with depression for the past several years after his wife walked away from their 14 year marriage leaving him devestated to have a broken family. He has 2 small daughters who will never know what a sweet, kind, generous, loving man he was. He spent the last 13 years working 7 months at a time onboard cruise ships to earn money to send home to his family in the Philippines. Working 16 hour days mostly for gratuities from the cruise guests and sacrificing time away from his family in order to earn enough to give them a better life.
Nobody has answers, nobody knows what would've driven him to ultimately end his life. Nobody knows why a man in the prime of his life who was loved by all who met him and had everything to live for would think this was a solution. All we really know is that everyone will miss Norman more than words can say.
As of this posting, his body hasn't been recovered by the Coast Guard search party and it's doubtful it ever will. My heart bleeds that his family will never have full closure.
Everyone is extremely devistated by this. I never thought I'd have to be writing his memorial online.
I'm starting this fund to help support his family and to try to lessen their already heavy burden. All donations raised will be sent to Norman's mother to be used for memorial services and to set up accounts for his 2 daughers,
God Bless you all and please hold on tight to those you love.
