11/21-update

Brittany met with her surgeon for her first follow up appointment that came with some not so good news. The surgeon informed her that after surgery they sent the half of her thyroid they removed to pathology to be tested and the results were not good. The pathology report said that the cancer that is in her thyroid was not contained and the type of cancer that it is is a more aggressive type called multifocal papillary thyroid cancer, which means there is multiple spots in her thyroid that have the cancer and now it has spread to her lymph nodes. The surgeon stated that in his 30 years of being a surgeon, he has only seen this type of cancer maybe a handful of times so with all that said, the other half of the thyroid will have to be removed and more testing to be done to see what lymph nodes the cancer spread to , then to top it all off, she will have to do multiple rounds of high doses of radioactive iodine treatment. This is looking like it’s going to be a long process to get all the cancer removed and all the treatments that will follow so with this long process still ahead, we are still asking for any donations and prayers.

Hi, my name is June and as most of you know my daughter Brittany has been battling cancer for the past year. She was diagnosed with Papillary thyroid cancer that has metastasized. She is 33 years old with 3 beautiful children; ages 15, 13 and 2. Brittany has tried to stay her positive self but sadly the cancer has taken a toll on her emotional, physical and financial. Mike has done his best to not miss work since they are a one income family but as the cancer has made her sicker she has needed him more. She is scheduled for surgery on November 16th followed by rounds of radioactive iodine treatments.
