Welcome and thank you for taking your time to read our story!
Franka the senior stray is looking for support :)

Our backstory:
At the end of December, I saw a cat wandering in circles and who seemed to be in pain, just a few days before it was supposed to snow. I wanted to be sure she's okay and took her to the vet, if she was fine, I would have brought her back. Unfortunately she wasn't fine... and she was not chipped or missed by anyone either. Every time she was touched or handled, she would shiver and cry out of arthritis pain.

She had really bad arthritis at the bottom of her spine, which makes her unable to use her tail as much as she would like to, which also keeps her from jumping around. This did not explain the circles though, so she was suspected to have a neurological problem, which we do not have a diagnosis for. It could be anything, it could be a brain tumor or dementia. Also, Franka is completely deaf, so she's getting spooked if not approached carefully.

At first she was expected to have all her teeth extracted, when she had surgery for it, luckily she just had a lot of tartar(?), now she's able to eat, since she was in pain before.

The vet ran several bloodwork, because she had a really high bloodsugar and she wanted to be sure Franka did not have Diabetes. Franka was diagnosed with kidney problems and is on medication for it now.

The vets I brought her to just gave me grim outlooks for her. I was told that if she was brought to the shelter, there's a risk she would be euthanized because she has a long way of recovery in front of her. And if she wasn't euthanized, she would most likely be an outcast due to her different cat language and behavior. Due to her conditions, her black color and her age (She's estimated to be around 12) she probably will never get adopted and that she'd be alone most of the day because they don't have ressources to play with her any way.

That's when I decided to keep her and that I would try my best to enhance her life quality. She became friends with my dogs and they like to snuggle up now. Franka has recovered so much, she's not in pain anymore and likes to explore my home. She most likely will never jump or use her tail, but she is thriving nonetheless. Her neurological conditions improved too (at least I think so). She's now happy, meowing and purring for any love she receives from me or the dogs.

I am glad that I was able to help her and give her a lovely home, but to be honest, the cost of the vet hit me since my car also broke down that month. I've taken on extra shifts to cover the minus, but it will take a few months before it's going to be in and that's why I am setting up a gofundme for anyone that might want to support Franka's cost (and upcoming costs since she needs more examinations). I am able to care for her and pay vet visits, the beginning was just really harsh on us :)
