Dealing with a loss of a wife and granddaughter
Donation protected
Robert Gruber has always been the most loving, caring, and selfless man you could meet. Throughout his life, he has taken in and raised ten children. He always had open arms for anyone who came into his home.
In 2006, my grandfather took me and my three brothers into his home and raised us into the men we are today. After my father passed away in 2010, he adopted my three brothers and I without hesitation. All while raising my cousin Dara and supporting other family members who were in need.
Not only was he a family man, he was also a big part of the community. He was always willing to help others in need. My grandfather was always donating to churches and making sure our streets were safe. His strong sense of service came from ten years as a police officer in Clementon, five years as forest fire fighter, and twenty-five years as park ranger.
On November 4, 2017 my grandfather lost his wife of nearly 50 years after an exhausting battle with cancer. Not even 6 months later, his son who lives with him was diagnosed with cancer. Just recently, he had the second loss of his son, Billy, due to cancer a little over a month ago.
As if burying two of your children and your wife of nearly fifty years was not a difficult burden to bear, my grandfather now has to stomach the death of his granddaughter, Dara, who he also raised for twenty-one years of her life. Through all of this heartbreak, my grandfather was never the type of man to ask for financial assistance. However, as his grandson, I feel it is time to give back what he has given others over the course of his entire life. We are asking for donations to help cover the cost of Dara’s funeral service and other related expenses.
