Dean Fitz back & neck surgery!

Hi! My name is Ashley Len. I am creating a GoFundMe account to help a very close friend who has recently had a very bad accident. Sunday night Dean, his wife Courtney, and his son Wyatt went for a swim at their family’s pool. Dean dove into the pool and instantly knew something was not right. After a night of evaluation Courtney took Dean to Cleveland Clinic. As of now Dean can walk, but his C7 and T2 vertebrae are shattered. The C7 is a bilateral compression fracture and the bottom half of it is protruding into his spinal cord. The family has talked to the surgeon, they have a lot to talk about regarding his surgery so he will be getting surgery sometime Thursday and will have to stay here 2-3 days following surgery for recovery. The surgeon said they need to discuss a game plan for how to do the surgery whether they need to go through the back or through the front of his throat AND the back and put a cage around this fragment of bone because there’s one protruding forward and one protruding back and they can’t get to both from the back but the surgery is way more risky going through both ways opposed to one. They said they want to take their time deciding on the best option for him. Surgeon also said it’s a miracle he isn’t paralyzed . If the bone fragments moved just like a tiny bit more he would’ve been paralyzed from the neck down for sure.

Any proceeds will help the family with childcare of their son (Wyatt), medical bills, bills while off for recovery, and food/gas.
