Dean Shore/ Wake Forest Barbershop COVID-19 Relief

I think all Wake Forest Students, whether you ever received a haircut in Dean Shore's Barbershop or not, would agree that Dean's consistent and optimistic presence at nearly every Wake Forest event was sure to bring a smile to your face and almost certainly a new profile picture or Instagram post. His position as a campus institution was even acknowledged in Stephen Colbert's 2015 commencement address.
"You people also have campus traditions that are people. I want to give a shout out to Mr. Dean Shore, the University barber. There he is. Right there. Dean actually contacted me first by sending me a Facebook request the minute my plane landed. He is a friend to so many students, and a real throwback to a simpler time because when your biggest local celebrity is a barber, you’re basically a medieval village."
With the outbreak of the Coronavirus Dean's income has been hit hard; March 25th marked the last day to get a haircut from Dean and business has been down since students had to leave campus. In his own words, "We've basically been out of work for the last 2 1/2 weeks. Starting today the State has closed down all barber shops for at least 1 month and it could be longer. Either way, our shop is in a very different situation than other shops. Once we get the word barber shops may reopen other shops in town will have their customer base immediately returning. It's scary for our shop to think that when we reopen our true customer base may not be returning till August. I'm pretty sure Wake won't have the first summer school. So, even when we reopen we'll probably have a very small customer base....I have always counted it a blessing and a privilege to serve the students and the WFU community. The greatest benefit has been the fact I consider many of you more than customers but also friends."
If Dean Shore has a special place in your heart and you have a couple of bucks to spare, please consider donating. Please pass this link along to other Wake Forest alumni, friends and family who have enjoyed his haircuts, photos, friendship, or all the above.
