In Memory of Deangelo Moore: Family Support
Donation protected
Hello Friends,
Like many of you, I had the pleasure of knowing Deangelo Moore, a Free Minds Book Club & Writing Workshop Poet Ambassador who resided in Washington DC. He visited our college campus for the past two years and shared his personal stories and poetry. Deangelo's message was a message of hope; he spoke of his past life in prison and his work with those still incarcerated and recently released. Through the power of reading, writing, and poetry, Deangelo helped many to heal and move forward.
Deangelo was unique, charismatic, and candid. He turned his painful life experiences into purpose, urging students to express difficult feelings and believe in themselves. At Gateway, he inspired students with his honesty, his lighthearted approach to difficult subjects, and his sense of humor.
We won't forget his story of redemption and optimism, and he truly made a difference and changed lives for the better before he was taken from us too soon.
In a senseless and tragic act of violence, Deangelo was shot and killed in October 2023. We are deeply saddened by the loss of this extraordinary young man, and we will miss Deangelo's bright light in this world. Because he gave of himself so freely and was so willing to help everyone, we want to help his family.
Deangelo leaves behind his wife Shameka, his new baby daughter Mecca, and three other beloved children, Paiden, Mitchell, and Treasure. All money collected will go directly to his family for the care and support of his wife and children.
