Dean's F#ck Cancer Journey

My name is Shanna and I'm fundraising for my cousin Dean Snell, who is now facing one of life's cruellest challenges.

On 1st October, Dean was at the Bowen pool with his family when he suffered a scare and lost the ability to speak. He could understand everything being said to him and knew what he wanted to say but the words wouldn't come out.

They suspected a stroke so he was taken by ambulance to Bowen Hospital where a CT was completed. The CT didn't show any clotting but did show a shadow that gave the doctors the need to complete an MRI. Dean was then airlifted to Townsville Hospital for further tests.

Once in Townsville Hospital an MRI, and a bombardment of tests including Lumbar Puncture and EEG were done, however nothing further was seen other than a couple of small spots shown on the MRI brain scan. As a result, a brain biopsy was completed on 21st October to take tissue from the spot shown on the MRI.

On 1st November Dean received the news that it was Glioblastoma; a fast-growing and aggressive brain tumour which has been devasting for his family and friends. Dean commenced an intense radiation and chemotherapy initial 6-week treatment on 14 November.

Dean is unlikely to return to work and daily hospital treatment has meant Jess is also not currently working. Every little bit helps, so please if you can donate at all Dean, Jess and the girls would be forever grateful.
