Death Rattle Fundraiser

Tax deductible
Hi from Death Rattle! We are fundraising for our upcoming fall and winter programming!

To be transparent– to be able to keep the lights on at Death Rattle, we rely on state arts funding that has been delayed due to state operational/financial system updates. That means we are turning to our community for the support we need to in-turn directly support our artist community to provide all of our exciting events and literary programming quickly approaching this fall and winter! We are non-profit organization so all donations will go directly into artists hands, keep our submission website open, and to keep writer’s work preserved online and in-print.

See more specific details below about our upcoming submission opportunities, publishing endeavors and/or check out our calendar to see everything we’ve got coming up and coming up SOON! Thank you for helping uplift our arts community!

If you are a local business or organization and would like to become an official sponsor of Death Rattle, please reach out to deathrattlewriter at gmail; we would love to partner with you!

UPCOMING PROGRAMS:

We are very excited to be putting on our 2023 Penrose Poetry Prize this year which awards cash prizes to 3 winners as selected by a guest judge for excellence in poetry from LGBTQIA+ artists. This fundraiser will be going towards paying winning artists for their prize winning work and paying the guest judge for their time, expertise, and care they put towards reading selected works. Donations here also help us keep it FREE to submit to this contest. Part of our mission with Death Rattle is to help remove barriers to new and emerging artists trying to get their work seen and published. Your support here helps make it possible for artists who may not otherwise be able to submit to share their work with our community and beyond!

It is important to us at Death Rattle that artists see their work in print.
We are working tirelessly on releasing in-print, handmade collections of our literary journal Oroboro; creating in-print volumes 5, 6, 7, and 8! In total this means 75 poets, writers, and visual artists seeing their work in print to be shared with our community and beyond!
Donations here help make this possible.

ABOUT DEATH RATTLE

Death Rattle Writers Festival is a 510C3 non-profit organization that is dedicated to providing public platforms to underserved writers locally, regionally, and online by providing the public with free access to quality literary programming throughout the year.

We strive to foster an accessible community for those that do not have traditional outlets available for the improvement and presentation of their literary arts, and create opportunities for the public to engage with that community in a way that is positive, scholarly, and educational. We strive to be a resource in our community and to support work by and about those often marginalized in literary spaces.

Our yearly programming ambitiously lists regular workshops on the literary or comic arts, performance, and publishing; bi-annual volumes of published poetry, short fiction, and comics in our online and in print lit-journal OROBORO; bi-monthly live storytelling at The Spill; and 4 yearly showcases of emerging and established poets and writers in our OROBORO and Keynote Poetry Reading series.

All donations are tax deductible.

OUR MISSION
Death Rattle strives to create year-round programming that reflects and invites an inspiring and atmospheric outlet for local artists and marginalized communities fostering an accessible, diverse, and experimental literary scene in our community. Our mission is also to have as many opportunities to enjoy and engage in what is being created in your literary and arts community here in Idaho and beyond. In line with these values, in 2018 we began our literary journal OROBORO to not only cultivate opportunities for aspiring writers, but to create a chance to be inspired by the experience of others through the reading of poetry, fiction, and comic art.

Our organization could not be what it is today without the involvement from the Treasure Valley community. Support comes from the following organizations, businesses, and individuals that have assisted in financial donation, in kind support, or event promotion. As Death Rattle grows, so does our gratitude towards all that aid in diverse literary voices being heard.
