Help Covering Final Expenses for Debbie Barr
Donation protected
My name is Brandy Caldwell and I'm asking for help for my grieving family. In short, my amazing mother-in-law is currently in hospice care as of Wednesday, December 28th. Her medical doctors have informed us that she now has only a few days left with us on this earth. Debbie was born with only 1 working kidney and has been battling countless kidney complications since birth. She has already been a survivor of skin cancer in the recent past but, unfortunately on February 12th, 2020 we received the completely devastating news that she now has been diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer, lung cancer and bone cancer which has quickly developed.
We are currently seeking donations as we were informed that her Life Insurance Policy would expire and be terminated on New Years' Eve 2022, and they would not renew her policy which would have contributed to her final expenses (I.e: funeral arrangements, medical bills and family living expenses. We want to be able to give Debbie the memorial and celebration of life she deserves.
Please see more details below.
Funds raised will go towards:
• Medical expenses for her treatment for hospice care.
• Previous outstanding medical bills from home hospice care + surgeries + treatments + doctor visits, etc.
• Funeral arrangements that include transportation costs and a memorial service she deserves
• Family expenses for home coverage (I.e rent, utilities, groceries, daily living expenses) for her husband (Richard) to be able to continue residing in their family home while going through this extremely difficult time.
A look at our Mother, our Patriarch, our Glue Debbie: Her Texas-sized stubbornness & strength, her joking & loving personality, her contagious smile and laugh, and her love for her family and the Christmas season were widely known and will never be forgotten. She had a long road of health complications for much of her life. She has been an amazing, strong fighter the entire time!! The strongest person we know.
Since the time she was born with only 1 functioning kidney, she has had to endure many tough medical procedures, with life-threatening scares with most of them. In 2008, she had an appendectomy (removal of the appendix). In 2009-2011, a Nephrostomy Tube was inserted in her kidney and replaced every 3 months. Later in 2011, she also needed a nephrectomy, which is the removal of both kidneys and a port was put in for dialysis purposes due to serious complications. A couple of months following this procedure, she then needed a graft for dialysis access in her left arm. Multiple surgeries arose over the years following. After being on dialysis for many years in 2017, she finally received a successful kidney transplant, after all! While we hoped this would be her last and final battle with major surgeries, in 2020, she was diagnosed with inoperable Stage 4 breast, bone, and lung cancer. That also metastasized into her brain.
Throughout Debbie's life, she's defied the odds and bewildered medical professionals around every turn. She was told by doctors that she was never supposed to have children. The Doctors even said it "shouldn't have happened." Well, not only DID she prove them wrong, she give birth to her 2 beautiful children (Raymond & Shannon) and outlived every doctor's predictions and has even been able to love on and be loved on by her 10 wonderful grandchildren, she has also been blessed by receiving the crown of "Granny" which isn’t worn by many.
Whether you spread the word about this fundraiser and/or contribute yourself, please know you are helping one of the most loved mothers, wives, and grandmothers and her family that ever lived immensely.
Thank you for your love, time, and support.
