Debbie Griffiths, Retired First Responder, Cancer
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Brenda Gabriel a fellow retired EMT who spent many years at Prichard Murray Volunteer Fire Department working alongside my dear friend Debbie. I've been Blessed to assist Debbie in her recovery after Pancreatic Cancer surgery.
November 7, 2023, Debbie got the devastating news, no one wants to hear. She would be starting the fight of her life to battle an Invasive Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma. Scheduled for surgery on December 8, Debbie expected to be in the hospital for 5-7 days. 39 days later she was released after suffering life threatening complications including Sepsis from infection, Pulmonary Embolisms, Pulmonary Hypertension and Supraventricular Tachycardia requiring a Cardioversion.
Now at home, Debbie continues to battle infection, fatigue and now the overwhelming expense of deductibles, copays, and in home care. Debbie was widowed at a young age, works to supplement her Social Security and has no living family members. Sadly, she can no longer do her job.
Due to the complexity of her cancer, Debbie is facing 4 months of chemotherapy once she is strong enough to withstand it.
Money donated will be used for medical bills that are already arriving. Debbie lives on a minimal income and has no savings. She fears losing her home to pay for her treatment. She needs temporary in home care which her insurance does not pay for.
Debbie, inspires me, she's a fighter. She has given aid to so many in her years of service as a volunteer. It would be wonderful to relieve the financial burden she is accumulating, so she can focus and getting well.
Humbly,
Brenda Gabriel
