Debbie Hammett

My mother was the amazing Debbie Hammett. She passed away at home unexpectedly on July 15th at the age of 68. My family is devastated. To know my mother was to love her. My father is in a nursing home struggling to cope with the loss of the love of his life. Mom was HILARIOUS, she thought she might even be funnier than me but that's a debate we never settled. Mom had one of those laughs that was so hearty and loud and infectious that often others would laugh along not even knowing why. This hurts, my heart hurts, it hurts everywhere. It's not fair. 

To say my sister Abby and I were completely unprepared for the procedures, expenses, arrangements, and so many of the things that must happen after the loss of a loved one is an understatement. The difficult thing for me to admit to people is that neither of my parents were prepared either. Having no will, or estate or life insurance does not change the fact that I have the greatest parents, I had a mom that was my best friend and I'm so very lost without her. It only means that in this very moment we have to reach out and ask for help. Thank you for being here for our family. Thank you for loving our mom.
