"It's a small world....and she knows everybody in it!" If you have ever met Debbie Stever Huffman then you know that is true! Very rarely does Deb make an aquaintance. You are usually a friend for life if you are lucky. She is the girl with the infectious smile and laugh. she is the girl that when she hugs you there is not a doubt in your mind that you are loved by someone who would give the world for you and in return you want to do the same for her! That is why I am here. In August of 2015, Deb was diagnosed with a Stage 3 Glioblastoma. when it was found, it was the size of an apple. Doctors immediateley removed as much as they could but a small section remained due to the area it was in it would be to risky to try and remove the rest. Debbie then went on to undergo radiation. In February of 2016 things appeared like things would be going her way. Shortly after that a scanned showed another tumor had formed. this time the doctors would attempt Cyber-knife radiation to pinpoint and attack the tumor. Deb was told early on that she would have 12-18 months life expectancy. She has proven that this is not her plan! After Debbie's surgery to remove the first tumor she was told that she could not drive herself due to her impaired vision caused by the surgery. Many of her close friends stepped up to take her to her treatments and Doctors appointments. Debbie told me "I just don't know how I can ever repay them for what they are doing for me." I didn't even hesitate with my response. "Debbie....don't you think that maybe they are repaying YOU!?!" That is the type of girl she is. If you can call her "friend" then you can recall a time that she has put everything aside to be there for you...or just given you that hug.
Debbie and her husband Bill have 14 year old son named Trent and a 7 year old son named Bryce. They are the light of her world! Trent has competed in Numerous archery tournaments in Southwest Missouri and even competed in the World Tournament last year. He also plays clarinet in his High School marching band.
Bryce is the most energetic, amazing boy that keeps them all on their toes and entertained.
I have set the goal high on this go fund me because there are treatments and medical bills that continue to escalate as Bill is still working full time as well as being a care-giver. There are days where Debbie just gets really tired and Bill becomes "Mom" as well. It is hard for anyone to get the rest that they need to remain strong when life seems so stressful. A lot of us want to help and feel that there is not much we can do but Pray. Let's kick it into double time with those prayers and donate to this amazing family because I don't know about you....but I'm not ready to let go of this girls hugs!
