Debbie McIntyre’s Medical Expenses
Donation protected
Debbie was rushed to Glens Falls Hospital Tuesday, August 23rd where they confirmed she had a stroke then transferred to Albany Med. Because the bleed was on the left side and deep in the center, surgery was not an option other than putting a shunt in to drain the blood.
She is currently paralyzed on her right side and has difficulty speaking. She was moved to the ICU the next day where they have monitored her blood pressure and started treatment with salt in hopes that it’ll help dry up the blood in her brain. She did not pass the swallow test, so she is currently on a feeding tube.
On Thursday, the ICU said she will be moving up to the stroke unit. Everyday she is making small progress and we are starting to understand her a little more. The doctors are thinking Debbie could be in the hospital for weeks and then rehab for possibly a few months, if not longer. Her family has been by her side at Albany med every day and because of Covid, they’re not letting anyone stay over night. All of her family lives at least an hour away from the hospital.
There are many expenses like gas, food and of course medical costs that her family should not have to worry about at this time. We are hoping to raise enough money to ease the burden of any medical expenses coming their way so that her family can strictly focus on her recovery.
If you know Debbie then you know that she loves to volunteer and donate her time giving back to others. She loves to go to work (mainly to socialize lol), but the doctors are saying she will never be able to work again.
Please keep Debbie and her family in your thoughts and prayers.
Thank you in advance.
