This account was set up to raise URGENT funds for Debby Padilla Hudson to receive in-home nursing care and assitance with any bills associated with her being able to stay in her home with her son Hunter until the close of her battle with cancer, as well as, help cover funeral and burial expenses. Our beautiful, smart, courageous Debby, only 43, has been told that she doesn’t have long to be with us. The doctors say she may only have a few weeks left, hopefully more time but it's not expected, and she just told her 12 year old son, Hunter, who had lots of questions as to why the doctors cannot save her. Debby is now in a nursing facility in Mt. View CA, which is not ideal, where I have just taken Hunter to visit her. Hunter and I are looking up what the liver does together because his mom, is now in acute liver failure due to metastatic cancer, so her body cannot process any more chemo or immunotherapy or any clinical trials. For this reason, her doctors have stopped all treatment for her cancer.
Debby was diagnosed this past July 2016 for the first time with stage 4 cancer, and overnight her life changed. She had to resign her contract programming job with only CA state short term disability to live on, had to go to court to ask for child support, and she is still awaiting it through the channels, and just recently she had to find a new home for Misa, their family dog of 10 years. She is divorced and shares joint custody of Hunter and has been struggling to make all her bills and keep a roof over their heads while battling cancer. On 11/11 Debby had to call an ambulance to take her to the hospital because she was in a weakened state, and she was informed by her Dr.’s office that since her lab results were not good, she should go to the ER immediately. And now Debby and Hunter are separated because she can no longer care for herself at home alone.
For awhile it seemed like Debby was responsive to the chemo, and her doctors were surprised she was doing so well at first. For the first months she could rest up, then put on a wig and get out to take care of things okay, with the help of friends to give her rides to treatment appointments that required someone to drive her. However, the decline in her ability to care for herself at home has happened almost overnight.
It’s not Debby’s personality to rely on others to take care of her. She is fiercely independent, with her mother passed away and her father with no real means and living out of the country. Debby is a self-made woman in technology, and at the time of her diagnosis this summer, she was also pursuing an advanced degree in psychology and about to write her dissertation. Unfortunately, she was not financially prepared with any real savings or life insurance for such a traumatic blow, and like so many in Silicon Valley is burdened with high rent. Please help my dear friend Debby to live out her remaining days in a safe loving place with her son by her side, and to know all the details are taken care of before she leaves us.
