Debby's Cancer Care Fund

In 2017, Debby had her first experience with colon cancer, including a colon resection and subsequent chemotherapy. In May of 2019, Debby was diagnosed with colon cancer metastasis to the right lung. In July, Debby had two lobes of her right lung removed, and she is currently undergoing chemotherapy in hopes of preventing further metastasis.

Since Debby's CT scan that revealed the lung metastasis, she has had several scans, a biopsy, several appointments with specialists, a tumor removal surgery that was much more invasive than expected, a much longer stay in the hospital than expected, and a much longer recovery time than anticipated. In September, Debby began chemotherapy, and her first treatment was very hard on her body, resulting in more trips to the doctor than expected and an almost week long hospital stay. She has had one additional treatment and has more treatments to come.

Debby is newly single, meaning she was still trying to get on her feet financially prior to receiving the diagnosis. In fact, she was in the process of starting a second job, which she has not been able to undertake since her diagnosis. As many of you know all too well, cancer treatment is extremely expensive and the financial burden can be too much to bear. Research indicates that people physically recover more quickly when their mental/emotional health is taken care of. If we could come together and help our sister with financial support, the Lord would use us to ease the anxiety she has about not having enough money, allowing her to focus on beating cancer for good.

At this time, Debby's unmet expenses total around $8,000. She has not had the finances to cover these out of pocket expenses, so she has maxed out three credit cards. She is having a difficult time paying her bills, acquiring her most basic needs, and proceeding with necessary treatment. In the weeks to come, these expenses will increase along with her normal bills being due. Additionally, she is concerned that her treatment may extend into the new year, which will bring a new round of higher deductibles.
