Sandra Meagher: Debra Arctic Challenge
Donation protected
Please help me support this amazing charity, DEBRA Ireland, the only charity devoted solely to the care and cure of EB. (epidermolysis bullosa). This is a rare, genetic skin condition which causes the skin to blister at the slightest touch. These wounds, some of which never heal, occur both internally and externally and are constantly at risk from severe infection. Children born with EB are highly susceptible to a very aggressive form of skin cancer from as early as their teenage years.. Babies and children suck on morphine lollies as it is so painful getting their bandages changed. It is sometimes called the butterfly disease or the worst disease you have never heard of. There is currently no cure for EB.
On 17th March 2020, I will be joining a group of 15 Irish Women are heading to Finland and the Arctic circle to camp out for 5 nights to raise money to try and find a cure for these children and their families. We will stay in a lodge with no electricity or running water and will trek approximately 30km per day in temperatures well below freezing and will camp out in tents on the last night.
I am delighted to be able to help, by taking this amazing personal challenge, thanks to #teamdavy . Thanking you in advance for ANY support you can offer. Your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate a little or a lot.
