Debt Heist: Raising Money for RIP Medical Debt!

Everyone loves a heist. Especially Obee and Dinosaur Art Thief.

 

They don’t heist for glory or wealth. They heist to help strangers in need. Because they don’t just heist. They debt heist.

 

We're also going to help strangers in need. We're going to work with Obee and Dinosaur Art Thief to heist that debt.

 

THE DEBT HEIST

How will we heist that debt? By raising as much money and awareness as possible for the 501(c)(3) nonprofit RIP Medical Debt. RIP Medical Debt buys up medical debt for pennies on the dollar and then forgives it. For every $1 donated, RIP Medical Debt eliminates about $100 of medical debt. That means if you donate $2 to the Debt Heist GoFundMe, you heist about $200 in medical debt. If you donate $5, that’s $500 of medical debt you just heisted. And it's tax deductible!

 

Meanwhile, Obee and Dinosaur Art Thief will also heist debt — in their own sweet, stupid way — in Debt Heist, a mini animated series.

 

DEBT HEIST: THE SERIES

Your donations here go directly to RIP Medical Debt (minus GoFundMe's processing fees). And as a thank you, you'll get access to Debt Heist, Obee and Dinosaur Art Thief's heisting adventures! Season 1 episodes (about 1-3 minutes long) are full of subterfuge and silliness — and they'll only be available to donors of the Debt Heist GoFundMe.

 

Who are the stars of Debt Heist?

 

Obee is made of white chocolate. He builds spaces around other people’s art . Like this Knives Out-inspired room he made to hang Dinosaur Art Thief, a drawing by his favorite TV critic /pop culture writer /heist fan, Brian C. Grubb:

 

 

 

 

Brian created Dinosaur Art Thief for his own GoFundMe for RIP Medical Debt back in 2020, and raised enough to eliminate more than $2 million of medical debt.

 

Obee hates medical debt too. And he recruited Dinosaur Art Thief to heist even more debt in this new campaign.

 

THE SCORE

The starting goal: $1,500 in donations to RIP Medical Debt. With the each dollar packing a nearly 100x punch, $1,500 would mean almost $150,000 in medical debt gone forever, heisted by all of us.
