Today, we look to you for your support in overcoming Shed’s largest financial challenge and set the stage for an exciting new chapter in the upcoming future.

The Impact of Shed Studios

Since its founding, Shed Studios has been a hub for local artists, DJs, performers, and small businesses. It’s a space where many have taken their first steps, grown their passions, and shared unforgettable experiences together. Below are some specifics of our impact over the years:

• Content & Opportunity for DJs & Musicians: Many talented DJs, bands, singers & songwriters have got their start here, launching careers and bringing energy to Tacoma and the Pacific Northwest’s growing music scene.

• Community Initiatives: We have supported local businesses and organizations such as Grit City Cypher, eTc Tacoma, Birds of Paradise Showcase, Project Roll Call, Miss Pierce County Scholarship Organization, and LMNL Art through donations as well as resources and expertise. Not to mention Shed Sessions, a non-profit platform giving artists behind the mic a chance for professional content and exposure.

• Unforgettable Events: From some of the city’s best dance parties to unique gatherings, Shed Studios has brought people together in meaningful and memorable ways.

• Tools for Creators: Our studio has provided tools and rental space for over 100 photographers, videographers, and content creators.

This space has been a launchpad for creativity, a platform for dreams, and a source of connection in Tacoma.

Why We Need Your Support

Right now, Shed Studios is carrying $9,044.59 in debt, with the most urgent need being $5,945.65 in rent, which must be cleared by January 1st, 2025, to leave the space in good standing.

The full breakdown of debt:

• $5,945.65 - Back rent (priority #1)

• $2,237.42 - Small business loan

• $861.52 - SquareUp loan

This debt has taken a significant toll on both the personal and professional life of our sole owner, Wyat Taylor. We truly believed Shed Studios would turn a profit here in Tacoma, but despite our best efforts, the numbers just didn’t align. Leaving the physical space is a step toward financial stability, but we need your help to move forward.

A Vision for the Future of Shed:

Clearing this debt would allow us to focus on creating meaningful experiences without the constant weight of financial strain as well as the upkeep of a physical location. Below is a list of what we aim to not only continue to do but also new ideas as well.

1. Recording/streaming DJ/Music sets in unique and scenic locations.

2. Hosting “Shed pop-ups” in different venues and spaces throughout the Pacific Northwest and even beyond.

3. Designing and selling high-quality merchandise that represents the creative and utilitarian spirit of Shed.

4. Expanding our presence on platforms such as YouTube, SoundCloud, Twitch, and Discord to continue to build our virtual community and highlight creators.

5. The designing and building of physical and virtual stages and installations to bring people together.

Shed has always been about designing dreams for creators, and this fundraiser is a chance to continue that mission.
