Dee Bultje

Monday, October 17th Dee woke up with excruciating pain in her lower back and could not move. She then called 911 and was transported to a hospital in Shakopee where they ran some tests to find that she had a bacterial infection in her lower spine. She was then transferred to the Mayo Clinic in Mankato to receive the best care possible. She has been in the ICU on antibiotics in hopes that this will treat the infection. Unfortunately, the infection has spread to the bloodstream, but doctors are hopeful that the current antibiotics are working, and she seems to be responding well. She also received a MRI where doctors found a herniated disc between her L4 and L5 vertebrae along with a pocket of fluid. Dee has been in so much pain that her doctor ordered another MRI to see if the fluid pocket had grown; it did and is now roughly the size of a softball. On October 23rd, she underwent surgery to drain the fluid. The surgery went well, but Dee is still in a lot of pain. She is currently still in the ICU, with blood being drawn daily to watch the infection.

With all this happening so abruptly, she and her family face many bills. We kindly ask for prayers for Dee as we aren't sure what her recovery will look like once she is out of the hospital. What we do know is she will be unable to work for many months and will not be able to return to the job she loves so much!
