Defend Burgerville Workers From Retaliation Fund
Donation protected
Since beginning communications w management about negotiations we have received only a torrent of opposition in the shop floor and bargaining table
From unilateral changes that have negatively impacted workers, to retaliatory firings, to surveillance of workers engaged in concerted protected activity, to disrupting workers from engaging in union discussions and votes, to demanding workers PAY to bargain (the employer emphatically stating they do not value workers input but instead only the value of cushy hotels to bargain). As of recently the employer has refused to attend bargaining, disciplined every member of the union bargaining team, and has only offered a single counter proposal that would reduce worker's rights on the job. On July 28th, 2023 workers at Lloyd will be launching our response for the summer with our first strike in over a year! (First of many actions across the Portland area)
The employer has stated it is "under new management". From what we gather this is to mean an employer that no longer believes it is "ready to support the nations first fast food union" as it stated in 2018. Nor is it one that values abiding by national labor law as we have filed 8 ULP charges against the employer this year. Nor is it one who respects the community of workers it employs by stoking fear and resentment.
Our union has always been ready to fight to the hilt for our working class community. We have done so with the support of community in the picketline, and in mutual aid. We are asking folks who believe in the cause of working people to answer our call for solidarity and give to our Defense Fund to effectively fight for our membership.
