Defense Fund for Former Prosecutor Nick Trutenko

Nick Trutenko is a retired attorney of 40 years, who served the public passionately for over 22 years as an Assistant State's Attorney in Cook County. Ever the champion for victims of violent crime, Nick spoke for those who could no longer speak, helping to bring justice for them and their families, and making the community a safer place for all of us. Along the way, Nick treated everyone fairly and with integrity, and was respected by not only his peers and opposing counsel, but by Judges, courtroom personnel and law enforcement at every level. In fact, Nick is considered by all who know him to be one of the finest prosecutors and supervisors to have worked in the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, and is fondly considered mentor to hundreds of prosecutors past and present.

Nick is being wrongfully accused of misconduct, stemming from his prosecution 34 years ago of a defendant in the murder of two Chicago Police Officers.
