Defense of standing up to bullying
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Peggy, and pictured is my son and his two children, Jimmie, Damien, and Jaylen. Jaylen has been the victim of bullying by a girl at her school for over a year. She went from cheerleading, track, and the honor roll, to cutting herself and attempting suicide twice. My son has been a single father, without child support from his ex, since Jaylen was two years old. He is a good dad that loves his kids and is fiercely protective. He has worked in Corrections, been a Police Officer, and has now gone to school for his EMT license with a focus toward becoming a Paramedic. He does not drink or do drugs and is well liked by everyone that meets him. One day he saw his daughter's bully in the local park, so he stopped to ask her to leave Jaylen alone or he would seek legal recourse. She screamed and cussed him, then walked around him. He reached out and grabbed her backpack and she fell on her butt. All of this (as well as the attack on my granddaughter at school) was caught on camera. The bully's mother pressed charges against my son. The first lawyer he hired did nothing to help him and he wound up on felony probation. He was working 88 hours per week at the time and failed to remove his gun safe (from when he was a Police Officer) from his closet before his IA Probation Officer came to the house three days later (my son was going to remove the safe on the weekend, but the PO showed up on Friday). Needless to say, my son was taken to jail and the PO is pressing for him to go to prison for three years. He was in jail for nearly two months, missing Christmas with his children. He is the only parent they have and Jaylen is in mental health counseling. His EMT license has been suspended, so he lost one of his jobs (working with the Fire Department). He is now facing losing everything because he had to cash out all of his stocks to pay for attorney fees and court costs. He spent over $17,500 in December and the costs are still coming. It is hard for me to fathom how this has gotten so out of control, he was defending his daughter against a bully. In his 40 years, he has NEVER been in trouble with the law, and he has always sought careers that would give back to his community.
I will be paying all fees for this fundraising event to make sure every penny donated goes to him to help him pay off all of these costs and catch up on his bills. I would do more, but I am currently battling cancer and lost my job. Please give what you can, any amount is greatly appreciated!
Thank you and God bless!
