Defibrillator for Long Ditton Rec, Windmill Lane
Hello there, I’m Gabs!
It’s lovely to see our Rec being used for so many different sports, by dog walkers, families from our and the wider community.
A bit of background about why we need a defrib machine on the Windmill Lane/Pavilion side of the park and why I’m hoping you can help: My cousin’s boyfriend (in Melbourne) went off one evening to play football with his local team, within minutes he was unconscious following a heart attack, two things were on his side that day, the opposition had an off duty emergency response chap and there was a defrib machine on site, they saved his life, he’s 24...and more recently seeing Christian Eriksen and his wife, everyone needs a fighting chance.
Jez Langham (local councillor) has agreed with the council that a machine is needed on both sides of the park, there’s one at the village hall and another at Manny’s, they’re too far - time is of the essence.
So, we need to raise funds to buy the machine, some training (maybe the trainers at HIT35 could be involved as they are often there) and the council will install it.
Give what you can, share the link, ask local businesses if they can get involved, be a pest! Let’s literally be the heart of our community. Thank you.
