DeFratus Family Fire Relief
Donation protected
Longtime residents Ron and Lori De Fratus tragically lost their home of 26 years in the fires that raged in Boulder Creek. Both hard working individuals and small business owners who always have taken care of their own, they never thought they would be in a position that they would need the assistance of the community at large. However, in this case, with times as they are, it is time that these wonderful and loving parents/grandparents/friends get the support they need.
As one of the best friends of their oldest daughter Licia, (who has also tragically also lost her home along with her husband, children, and in-laws), I have known the De Fratus family for roughly 20 years. Lori even made my beautiful wedding cake in her bakery that she has run for many years. I wanted to reach out and help, knowing that this humble family would not be the type to ask for anything at all. All of the funds will go directly to Lori and Ron who will use it to secure a deposit on a new home and replace the items that make a house a home.
This home not only hosted the family holidays, but also in recent times has been a refuge for the entire family to get through quarantine together. Lori and Ron's children and grandchildren have had regular "food parties," sharing meals enjoying each other's company while times have been especially tough, limiting all of the family's ability to maintain regular employment during the restrictions placed due to COVID-19. Along with Lori and Ron, their son was also living with them, and one of their granddaughters for half of the week as well.
This family deserves a break and could really use some extra love right now while they get back on their feet. I have absolutely no doubt that they would do the same for others if the tables were turned. Donations of any amount would be greatly appreciated, as they have literally lost everything.
Thank you,
Carrie Atkinson
