Defy's Children's Play Room

Defy Domestic Abuse Beloit, a program of Family Services of S. WI & N. IL, Inc., is a community-based advocacy center for survivors of domestic violence. Defy's mission is to champion the inherent dignity of each individual while interrupting and dismantling the systemic cycle of domestic abuse. Defy is currently working to remodel the program's emergency shelter's living room into a playroom focusing on addressing how the trauma of domestic violence has negatively impacted the child(ren)'s development. As this renovation would remove the only communal sitting area in the shelter, the program would also create an adult sitting room that includes an office space for consistent access to equipment and technology necessary for adults to meet their goals. Defy has partnered with the Rock County Leadership Development Academy for the demo and construction but is currently fundraising for the construction materials and items to fill our playroom.
