The International Criminal Court (ICC) is the world’s most sophisticated mechanism for the protection of Human Rights and the rules of warfare.
We are the delegation of the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello who are preparing to participate in the Spanish edition of the ICC's Moot Court Competition organized by the Iberoamerican Institute of The Hague, with other university students from around the world. We are a group of 6 undergraduate students, from Caracas, Venezuela, who have been studying and training for almost a year to demonstrate our skills in an oral debate and also in the development of a written memorial.
Currently, our country has fallen into one of the worst economic crisis in its history. Venezuela is suffering from an economic recession that has become more severe recently. Also, it is suffering the fastest inflation rate in the world. This context seriously diminishes our chances to reach our goal, as travel expenses become each day more difficult to pay with our national currency.
Finally, an almost absolute control of the national exchange market by governmental authorities results in the impossibility for us to buy foreing currencies.
These are the reasons why we have turned this way to ask for your help. With your support, we will mange to represent our beloved country at the International Criminal Court, in The Netherlands, this year. We would really appreciate any contribution you may provide us to reach our goal.
