DeLiver A Miracle For Dave

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Krista and we need your help saving my little brother David Zaragoza.  Alright, so maybe Dave is not so little anymore but in my eyes he is still my baby brother.  He's the youngest of 3 siblings: myself( the oldest, Krista), middle brother Joey and Dave being the youngest. Growing up as the only sister to two brothers was quite an adventure;  seriously, the stories I could tell you! But it was  one made infinitely better by having Dave as a brother. He's brought so much happiness into our lives, and sure, some annoyance too, as pesky little brothers love to do.  But when it comes down to it I wouldn't trade those times for the world.  And I never ever want to imagine the day I'll have to go on without him.  I hope you'll read on to learn  more about my brother's ongoing fight with Liver Failure and Cancer as told by my sister-in law, his wife, Argie.  Thank you for your time and support. Please help us save our family.

"My husband, David Zaragoza, is a Hepatitis C survivor.

Doctors believe Dave acquired Hep C at age 9 when he underwent over 12 transfusions  to treat a childhood blood disorder.   Unfortunately, as things sometimes do, the disease went undiagnosed until he was in his late 30's.  By then it had ravaged his liver.  Seven months before what should have been one of the happiest moments of our lives, our engagement , Dave was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver.  Four months after that devastating revelation, he spent a week in ICU, in a city far from home, with hemorrhaging esophageal varices.  Dave is a fighter. He's been fighting all his life. But now he is fighting his biggest battle of all--inoperable and untreatable liver cancer, the end result of Hepatic Cirrhosis.  Sadly, his only salvation is a liver transplant.

There is no denying our journey has been long, hard, incredibly emotional and trying .  Yet somehow among all the pain, endless needle pokes and sleepless nights, there have been plenty of moments of gratitude, hope and Grace.  Dave is one of the most inspirational humans I have ever met- full of joy, generous of heart and with a burning spirit that refuses to be put out.   Five years ago in front of a room full of family and friends I promised to stand by him through thick and thin, for better or for worse and I refuse to break my vows to  him.  I will move heaven and earth to ensure he receives the best healthcare  possible,  I vow to create the best life for my husband.  I vow to help him see our 10th anniversary, happy and healthy, this ordeal nothing more than a far off memory.

Unfortunately, the reality of saving Dave's life is a harsh one.  A liver transplant is expensive-- a typical liver transplant costs about $750,000.

As sick as Dave has been these past few years he's never stopped working full-time.  He's been head of household and our primary provider the whole time as I've  had to work from home to be Dave's full-time caretaker.  Although I've only gone back to work full-time recently, we've worked incredibly hard throughout to make sure Dave's medical expenses have been paid  on our own.   However, when Dave receives the call that there is a donor liver available we'll be back to being a single-income couple struggling with the price of an immensely expensive surgery, post operative care, anti rejection medications,  and the short term cost of day-to-day living expenses.

We humbly ask for your support in this time of need-- any and all support is welcome and appreciated.  There is one last thing we'd like all of you to know; we both have a strong sense of community and fully believe in paying it forward.  Any help that we ask for and receive today, we intend on reciprocating in the future to others who also find themselves in need.   They say we rise when we lift others.  We see proof of that every day.  This world is far lovelier and kinder than it gets credit for and it's because of people like you.

Thank you for your time, support, prayers and good wishes.

Sincerely,
Argentina A. Zaragoza"
