Deliverista's Funeral Fund for Chavita
Donation protected
My name is Francisca Navarrete Flores, I'm Salvador Navarrete Flores's sister, for many of us know as "Chavita." My brother and I are from the community of Soledad, which is part of the municipality of Malinaltepec, in the state of Guerrero, south-western Mexico. Last night, Monday, December 13, 2021 my brother "Chavita" was killed in the Upper East Side while coming home from work.
In 2011, Chavita migrated to the Highbridge neighborhood of The Bronx, in search of a better life for his 12-year old son, Bryan Navarrete. He worked as a food prepper for Just Salad and as an app delivery worker for Doordash and Relay. During the pandemic, my brother prepared food for nurses and doctors at a Manhattan Hospital and risked his life delivering food and medicine through the delivery apps. My brother worked hard to support his only son and our mother, Herminia Flores Marcos. His dream was to return to Mexico to see his son and my mother.
My bother was 31-years old and was a hero. He risked his own life for this city and our family. Heroes like my bother did not deserved to die the way he did. Unfortunately, We ask for your support in order to pay his funeral expenses and be able to provide financial support to his son.
Sadly, he won’t be able to see his son and our mother again. We are raising funds to cover his funeral expenses and support his son. Unfortunately, my bother nor I make enough money and we are hoping to count with the support of the community to be able to cover all funeral costs. We welcome your support during difficult times.
My bother was well known within the delivery worker community for his actvism and was part of Los Deliveristas Unidos. He joined many of the rallies of Los Deliveristas Unidos to win justice and dignity for all delivery workers in New York City. Now, it's time to join us in supporting him and his son. Thank you for showing support and love for my bother Chavita.
On behalf of the entire family Navarrete Flores for taking the time to support our family and donating to his fund. Ismael Leon Alvarez is his brother in law who will be helping the family withdraw the fund on his behalf and pass it on to his son and will be covering the funeral expenses.
