Detroit Delta Preparatory Academy

On September 2, 2014 history was made as the doors of Detroit Delta Preparatory Academy for Social Justice opened, welcoming 9th and 10th grade students who would become the “Pioneers” of the school. As a dream of the Detroit Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., this college-preparatory high school, located in the heart of Detroit, is the first high school in the nation to be launched and supported by a National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) Greek Letter Organization. With its outstanding support and leadership, dedicated teachers, community partners and volunteer mentors, Delta Prep is educating the next generation of leaders.

This social justice school serves as a beacon of hope for the students who enter daily and they deserve the absolute best that the world has to offer. The educational climate and funding for academic endeavors has changed drastically in Detroit, and unfortunately students throughout the city are suffering in the interim. Therefore, we are respectfully requesting any financial assistance you can offer this great school. Your tax-exempt donation will support the students and staff of Delta Prep and directly impact the academic success of our dynamic students.

The African proverb, “It Takes a Village to Raise a Child” is befitting for the Delta Prep community. The school leader, instructional team, school board and community stakeholders work in tandem to support the college prep initiatives of the school. Now is the time for individuals across the nation to support this groundbreaking endeavor. We are asking that all who read this correspondence offer financial support to the students of Delta Prep to enrich their academic matriculation as they prepare for their future success in the post-secondary institution of their choice. As a special request, we are asking members of Greek-letter organizations to reflect upon the thrusts of your own sorority/fraternity, remember the importance of education, and give back to the youth of the community. As members of NPHC organizations, you faithfully commit your time, effort and energy to stand for justice in the community and now we are asking that you make a financial commitment to positively impact the students of Delta Prep.
