Demetria (Mimi) needs help while fighting cancer
Demetria Sue Parker (nee, Clayton, Morkel) aka Mimi Sue received some life-changing news in October of 2020. She’s is battling Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) A type of cancer of the blood and bone marrow. She is stage 2 (there are only 3 stages of CLL).
The cancer treatment is IV chemotherapy, along with ongoing oral chemo.
She has extreme fatigue from CLL, swollen lymph nodes and swollen spleen and bruises easily. She struggles with the daily activities and has tried to work, but has not been able to work enough to sustain her and her family’s needs. The cancer itself has taken its toll and the treatment for it has only exasperated her low energy levels. There is no more vacation time nor any more paid time off to carry her and her family through. She has currently lost six weeks wages and will continue to lose more as her IV treatment continues.
Mimi has been a nurse her whole adult life. Most currently a hospice nurse. Which she says is where she should be at this time in her life. She is a giver by nature and an animal lover. She is strong in her faith. However, she needs a little help right now. Please consider lending a helping hand while she is off work to help with treatment and recovery from treatment. CLL is rarely curable and the prognosis of patients with CLL varies widely at diagnosis. Some patients die rapidly, within 2-3 years of diagnosis, because of complications from CLL. Some patients can live 5-10 years, The cancer is terminal, progressive, and resistant sometimes.
We don’t know what God has in store for Mimi’s prognosis. But we want to help her now, so she can make the most of what time she has left on this earth. She has two teenage kids and a husband that love her very much and we want to help her family out. So please consider a donation via GoFundMe or T-shirt sales (coming soon) or just directly to her and her family. Thank you and God Bless. We understand if you cannot help monetarily.
