It’s been almost a year since my son was in an unfortunate motorcycle wreak that left him as a quadriplegic who’s also ventilator dependent. My son demetrus dman spent ten months in different hospitals and healthcare facilities and a few nursing homes…. He’s suffered a few injuries along with gaining three bedsore one had to be debreeeded because it got infected to the bone causing him to be septic. He’s had pneumonia a few times, a few uti due improper Cather care one time he had a uti so bad it caused him a second round of being septic. He became malnutritios during his hospitalization where he loss weight. Demetrus is fully aware and knows his body and nursing/hospital staff ignored him, refused to communicate with him ( since he uses his eyes to communicate or mouths word just can’t be heard due to the vent ) he has also been neglected and abused in one incident he was spit on…. The list goes on. After going through all this and going through a bunch of other things that postponed him coming home my son finally got home two months ago!! We also found out the dr at ucla is willing to accept my son in a clinal trail to place an epidural stimulator a device that could possibly get him off the vent and there chances he can regain mobility he couldn’t join the study until he was a year post injury also ucla has been the only place that offered to do anything more for him… I reached to medical center across the country in every state. I’ve even email doctors and medical teams in other countries speaking anyone one who had anything better than my son be able to get… because there’s plenty of drs they are doing ground breaking procedures to help my son and others like him… thankfully UCLA finally Offered their device and procedure and all the medical expenses are covered however they don’t provide travel or lodging. We would have to go out to California at least three times before September when we would need to go out there for at-least ten days. The estimated cost for is to go out there is 1k for our 1st trip in July and 5k to return in September. We are trying to raise money to help with these expenses so my son is able to go. Any donation helps. We are also having a homecoming fundraiser party in July 29th at my house where my son also lives if you want come out met demtrus we’ll have hot dogs soda chips and pizza ( donations welcome) off 2 special prizes all money raised goes for Dmans trip to California
