Demitria - Breast Reconstruction
Donation protected
In October of 2016 at the age of 35 I was diagnosed with stage three inflammatory breast cancer. Through the support of so many people I went through chemo, radiation, and surgery and am now cancer free. Here is the link to my original blog post and the updates through out out my cancer journey.

Because of the severity of the cancer I could not get immediate reconstruction. I am fortunate to have insurance, but the out of pocket amount is still in the thousands.
I will be having a flap procedure, where they take the skin and fat from your stomach and reconstruct a breast. It took me a while to wrap my head around the idea - I never thought I would have so many surgeries in my life. But I never thought I would get cancer either!
Cancer takes a lot from you. More than just the physical toll, there is an emotional hardship to overcome. You lose a piece of yourself. Surviving cancer was hard, and now I'm ready to move on and be whole again.
Any support would be greatly appreciated.
