DÉMOSLE UN OJO A OLIVE

Olive tiene 18 años y vive en una pequeña aldea llamada Bulusari, en la región de Banyuagwni de la isla de Java. Nació con una microftalmia, una anomalía en la que uno de los globos oculares tiene un tamaño inusualmente pequeño. A pesar de que Olive es completamente ciega de un ojo, desde su nacimiento aceptó su condición, superando su infancia con valentía. Sin embargo, esta rareza innata que se refleja directamente en su rostro, está afectando fuertemente a su desarrollo natural como mujer adulta y a su integración en la comunidad.

Olive obviamente sueña con tener ambos ojos y sentirse guapa, pero esto no es sólo un problema estético para ella. Su entorno no es capaz de aceptarla como un ser humano completo y en su aldea descartan el hecho de que pueda alcanzar metas sociales tan normales como encontrar una pareja, ser madre o obtener ciertos trabajos. Esta situación está minando su autoestima y le crea grandes crisis de identidad. Una prótesis ocular podría cambiarle la vida a Olive, ofreciéndole un nuevo rostro que le ayude a ser aceptada y a poder desarrollar su futuro sin ser rechazada socialmente. Gracias a esta simple intervención, su identidad no estará marcada por la ausencia de un ojo, sino por la mujer inteligente, positiva y trabajadora que realmente es. 

Carolina es una diseñadora de moda originaria de España que conoció a Olive hace 4 años. Carolina ha pasado largas temporadas en la aldea de Olive y ambas han desarrollado una amistad a lo largo del tiempo. Recientemente Carolina compartió la historia de Olive con una de sus mejores amigas, la cineasta española Rocío Mesa, quien también nació con una microftalmia pero contó con el privilegio de tener una prótesis ocular desde pequeña. Estas tres mujeres, Olive, Carolina y Rocío, decidieron entonces unir fuerzas para iniciar esta campaña de recaudación de fondos. 

El plan es llevar a Olive a España y que reciba tratamiento de manos de los médicos más destacados en el campo de las prótesis oculares.

Hemos estimado que el coste total de esta intervención médica será de un mínimo de 5,000 euros:
-Billete de avión para Olive y un adulto de su familia que la acompañe
- Visados médicos de viaje
-Transporte, comida y alojamiento
-Pago de la prótesis ocular y posible cirugía
 + PCRs y gastos extra relacionados con las regulaciones COVID

Olive os pide vuestra ayuda porque necesita que la sociedad la identifique como un mujer completa. Quiere recuperar su autoestima y poder adentrarse en su vida adulta sin ningún tipo de discriminación en el territorio personal o laboral. Ayúdanos a regalarle a Olive un nuevo rostro que le ofrezca igualdad de oportunidades y un futuro sin barreras. 





AN OCULAR PROSTHESIS FOR OLIVE 

Olive is 18 years old and lives in a small village called Bulusari, in the Banyuagwni region of Java Island. She was born with microphthalmia, an abnormality in which one of the eyeballs has an unusually small size. Although Olive is completely blind in one eye, she accepted her condition from birth, bravely overcoming her childhood. However, this innate rarity, which is reflected directly on her face, is strongly affecting her natural development as an adult woman and her integration into her community. She obviously dreams of having both eyes and feeling beautiful, but this is not just an aesthetic issue for her.

Her environment is not capable of accepting her as a complete human being and, in her village, people assume she will never be able to achieve normal social goals such as finding a partner, being a mother or accessing certain jobs. This situation is undermining her self-esteem and creating an identity crisis for her. An ocular prosthesis could change Olive's life, offering her a new face that would help her to be accepted and to be able to develop her future without being socially rejected. Thanks to this simple intervention, her identity will not be determined by the absence of an eye, but by the intelligent, positive and hardworking woman she really is. 

Carolina is a fashion designer from Spain who met Olive 4 years ago. Carolina has spent long periods in Olive's village and both have developed a friendship over time. Carolina recently shared Olive's story with one of her best friends, Spanish filmmaker Rocío Mesa, who was also born with microphthalmia but had the privilege of getting an ocular prosthesis from a young age. These three women, Olive, Carolina & Rocío, then decided to team up and start this fundraising campaign.

The plan is to take Olive to Spain and have her treated by the most prominent doctors in the field of ocular prosthetics.

We have estimated that the total cost of this medical intervention will be a minimum of 5,000 euros:
-Airfare for Olive and an accompanying adult family member
- Travel medical visas
-Transportation, food, and lodging
-Payment for ocular prosthesis and possible surgery
 + PCRs and extra expenses related to COVID regulations

Olive is asking for your help because she needs society to identify her as a complete woman. She wants to recover her self-esteem and be able to enter her adulthood without any kind of discrimination, on a personal and professional level.
