I'm a veteran musician, podcaster, writer, performer, and I can't pay my rent. I have massive debt. I have no money to help my own children or parents. I work hard at at least a half dozen jobs weekly, and it's still not enough. I believe everyone should have enough to live, regardless of the work they do. DETAILS OF THREE ELEMENTS

My project encompasses three elements, all of which will be covered by the money from this campaign (and other sources hopefully).

1. MUSIC - I'm producing an album called KITE TO CAMDEN. It's a concept album of sorts. I'm happy to go over what the lyrical concept is if you'd like, but the main focus is on the music. I take a journey through about ten genres of music, in such a way that you don't realize the change until you're several songs in. The genres include ambient, hip hop, pop, techno, indie pop, alt rock, jangle rock, acoustic, and one or two others. I'm doing a lo-fi version now, and have released three singles - https://recarea.bandcamp.com/ , all meant to showcase the work and hopefully generate interest in supporting this campaign. The music portion of this will include paying musicians for concerts, paying a production team for videos, as well as multi-tiered marketing.

2. PODCAST - I'm in season six of my podcast, MUSIC is not a GENRE - https://www.nickdematteo.com/musicisnotagenre . As the name implies, it covers music of all kinds. It also covers topics outside of music: other arts, social and political issues, and even some philosophical ideas. I've also interviewed three dozen guests from a variety of backgrounds. I do both audio AND video for each episode. Each season, my production values have increased, but I'm still a team of one. My goal is to expand both production and advertising, so I can increase reach, streams, and sponsor revenue.

3. LIVING WAGE AND SOCIAL CHANGE - I wrote a treatise called THE $50,000 MANIFESTO - https://www.nickdematteo.com/50000manifesto , which goes over topics such as income inequality, universal basic income, and the societal and political changes (or lack thereof) that have shaped our economic world. The inspiration for this campaign came from this treatise. It's main idea is that everyone - regardless of work - deserves to have all their basic needs met. Though I hope to start with the needs of my family and me, my ultimate goal is to encourage people with money to spare to finance other artists, craftspeople, and workers in other fields. As a side source of income, I also hope to sell some shirts and mugs related to this!
