Deng's Journey: Healing After Violence

In late February, Deng Deng, a bright and compassionate 26-year-old, became the victim of a senseless act of violence. He was shot in the head during a suspected carjacking. What should have been an ordinary day turned into a tragic and life-changing experience.

The road to recovery will be long and challenging. Deng has already endured a precarious stay in the ICU and will need further medical treatment, physical therapy, and emotional support in the weeks and months ahead. The financial burden of hospital bills, medical expenses, and the loss of income during this time is overwhelming for Deng and his family.

We are reaching out to our community and beyond to ask for help in supporting Deng and his family—his father, Santino; his mother, Monica; and his four siblings—through this difficult time.
