Denim Day Fundraiser Open Heart Advocates
Donation protected
My name is Jordan,
I am an MSW student hoping to raise money for my local Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Advocacy Agency, Open Heart Advocates, where I am completing my internship.
Denim Day is a campaign during Sexual Assault Awareness Month in honor of the 18-year-old woman whose perpetrator's conviction was overturned by the Italian Supreme Court on the premise that because she was wearing tight jeans, she must have helped the person who raped her, remove them. The following day, women in the Italian Parliament wore jeans in solidarity with the victim; the tradition continues today. Please join us Wednesday, April 27th, in wearing jeans, and in protesting the misconceptions that surround sexual violence.
For Denim Day this year, I hope you will donate to my Go Fund Me, which will go directly to Open Heart Advocates. For every $10 raised toward my goal, I will spend one roll at Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu during April wearing jeans. I am looking to raise $970, which will go directly to our survivors; ensuring safety and stability for their futures. 970 is significant to our agency, as this past year, we served 97 clients impacted by sexual assault in our community.
